It’s been just over a month that the [GREEN BAY PACKERS] won ANOTHER Lombardi Trophy. As I mentioned earlier the men that make up the rosters of the THIRTY-TWO National Football League teams WORK HARD to [BECOME] the specimens we see, (and try to emulate.), through T.V. or in the stadium/ arena.

Many begin their training at such an early age that it’s a foregone conclusion.

Whether Base-, Basket-, Football. Or ANY other sport, the benefits distributed throughout our communities is [STAGGERING] when multiplied by what we DON’T know about. With the lucretive tax breaks that schools and [PROFESSIONAL TEAM OWNERSHIP] receive the BOTTOM line of it ALL is the ATHLETE.

The swordless Gladiators that challenge the seemingly crazy…

… when they, really, know the consequences of the actions their employers have been making [\”light\”] of.

The [HISTORY] of organized LABOR and how it has helped build the ability to raise a family cannot be questioned, except by those that don’t know HOW IT works… OR by those that have fostered its demise by NOT WORKING within the boundaries of the WORK-PLACE.

The ownership of each NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL [FRANCHISE] , except that of GREEN BAY, have been [CONTENTIOUS] , at best. Talk on, almost, all the ESPN talk segments have alluded to this scenario. there’s been the intimation that there “could” be the real life version of “THE REPLACEMENTS“…

… Many of the newer players wary of the fact that a Veteran being able to dip into some of their saved sums from past seasons.

I wonder if the NFL owners are able to envision a comparison between them and how the American automobile industry  “assisted” in the nation’s economic “decline” just a year, or so, ago ? How many PART-TIME jobs, Municipal coffers, (READ TAXES!!!), Television REVENUES and the profits made from CLOTHING, (  With $18.6 billion in revenue in 2008. NIKE), from the OBVIOUS standpoints !?! This is going to be one of THE best KNOCK-DOWN-DRAG-OUTS  witnessed in  our CUMULATIVE ‘labor/management’  battles YET. And with the “news” agencies focused on how the legislature of WISCONSIN putting the [KLIEGS] of this insinuation into the eyes of the citizens/ SPORT FAN, (Remember, the GREEN BAY PACKERS ARE the ONLY NON-PROFIT TEAM in the NFL!), is there a THEME here somewheres ? It’s [\”FUNNY\’],the  Grasshoppers that make “six figures a minute” are claiming that the “Bees” are trying to carry away the forest. This is how things [REALLY] work, it’s up to you to know it.

The debate of whether or not Pete Rose should be in the MLB Hall of Fame has been RAGING for years.

“Yes”, Rose Bet on Baseball. “Yes”, Rose Bet on his Reds. and Yes, Rose was Suspended, (Read BANNED!!!), from BASEBALL. The Man, who’s style defined the “GAME”, also admitted he was wrong, and was EXILED from the GAME he LOVED. The man HAS paid the “PRICE”…

…Aug. 24, 1989: Rose agrees to lifetime ban from baseball following a six-month investigation of his gambling, a deal announced by Giamatti. A five-page document signed by Rose and Giamatti has no formal findings. However, Giamatti says he believes Rose bet on baseball, while on the same day Rose denies it.

Sept. 1, 1989: Giamatti dies suddenly of a heart attack at age 51.

April 20, 1990: Rose pleads guilty to two felony counts of filing false income tax returns.

July 19, 1990: Rose is sentenced to five months in prison and fined $50,000.

Aug. 8, 1990: Rose begins serving his five-month prison sentence at Marion (Ill.) Federal prison camp.

Jan. 7, 1991: Rose is released from federal prison in Marion, Ill. He begins the second part of his sentence, consisting of 1,000 hours of community service at Cincinnati inner-city schools…

But, I feel Pete Rose has done NO MORE WRONGS  than [ANY-BODY] else in the world of professional Sports with this day of PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS  among other things these ATHLETES are taking part of NOWADAYS.

I see that Rose has just as much RIGHT to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame as anybody else.

Men like Roger ClemonsMark McGwire and Barry Bonds have been implicated  with these DRUGS.

These Men have proclaimed their innocence, but there have been questions about their involvement and how their game was affected by THEM.

So, my friends, I ask this. If  the “BOYS” in COOPERSTOWN are gonna turn a “cheek” and let these guys in, which ALL will be ELIGIBLE  in the next couple of years,

[WHY NOT PETE ROSE !?!  Just LET the MAN in the Hall of Fame…

…And Allow him HIS place… in BASEBALL HISTORY… that he DEFINITELY EARNED.

This is a story about a couple of sports ‘Heroes’.

[STANLEY FRANK MUSIAL]

[WILLIAM FELTON RUSSELL]

I’ve said heroes, and I mean it in the most SINCERE manner that I can express.

Stan “The Man” Musial was the most prolific Baseball player of his time. And that was accomplished even as he’d served in the U.S. Navy during World War 2, (Cardinals@ 1941-1963). As a civilian he served as Vice President of the St. Louis CARDINAL Baseball team serving his country also that year by being this nation’s PHYSICAL FITNESS ADVISOR for President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967. If you couldn’t guess, Stan is also an inductee of the Major League Baseball Hall of FAME.

“Bill” Russell IS the premier DNA donor to the model of what the title CENTER means to the definition of WHAT a position player SHOULD BE in the game of Basketball. Not only did he “stand his ground” at the post but, he did outside the walls of Boston Gardens. On a road trip the black players were denied a service… after “some” was rendered HE REFUSED to play THAT night’s game. He, too, is in the Hall of FAME, but in the halls of the National Basketball Association’s.

These MEN have served their SPORT and WORLD during their lifetimes. And on Tuesday, February Fifteenth, Two-Thousand Twelve, BOTH, were seated in the WHITE HOUSE along with 15present, plus 1 postumous, [RECIPIENTS].

Congratulations to ALL for their GIFTS to the world. And for receiving the [PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL of FREEDOM].

The New York [YANKEES] have had some good “luck” as a Baseball organization for over a century.

Being able to see, then [PURCHASE] the best fits…     George Herman,

[EDWARD CHARLES] ,           and  Andrew Eugene have all been privy to the deep  pocketed ownership by those of [NEW AMSTERDAM]. Greatness IS expected by the time the ink has dried, most who choose the “Pinstripes” are rewarded by a ring, ( 27 wins in 40 appearances !), for their signitures.

Babe Ruth and Whitey Ford are in the MLB [HALL of FAME]. As of Friday, February 4, 2011 Andy Petitte “will announce” his retirement from the New York YANKEES organization. His [RECORDED] highlights are a testament to the keen eyes of those behind the scenes that help maintain the machine known as the “BRONX BOMBERS”.

Whatever transpires at the news conference is just the reloading of one of the fiercest of competetive teams in sports. The question is what new “Howitzer” will they bring to the field ?

As a white man living in middle America, in the Month of February, (which happens to be Black History Month), I was deeply moved when along with my Editor,( who just so happens to be black himself.), came across this story about a Wake Forrest Baseball Coach who gave a Kidney up to save one of his Players. I was truly moved by the fact that a Coach selflessly gave of himself to a fallen comrade.  The two gentlemen I’m talking about are Coach/ Player, [ TOM WALTER/ KEVIN JORDAN]. Here is where the REAL LESSON in LIFE  lives… where  WE are all people  and WE all are just that.

Things are moving toward [OPENING DAY] at a rapid pace in the MLB, some players are planning their next “move”.  [Joseph Patrick Mauer ]  could be “on the market” if the MINNESOTA TWINS don’t resign him. Mauer, a DEFENSIVE Catcher       who also happens to hit like an All-Star batsman, ponders if the TWINS will resign him. If they do it could be in excess of $200 Million.

A little steep, but Mauer is worth the investment

           [CHRISTOPHER PHIFER LEE]

                                                                             and            [BRANDON TYLER  WEBB]

also wonder where they will playing, LEE,  won the CyYoung award in O8. and Played like Cy in O9.

On the Opposite end of the Spectrum, Webb pitched just four innings last year, then had Back Surgery on top of that.  But on the BRIGHT SIDE, Webb when healthy, can be on that SHORT LIST of the Best Pitchers in Baseball. Outfielders,

 [CARL DEMONTE CRAWFORD]

  [Jayson Richard Gowan Werth (Werewolf)

have had huge up-swings when it comes to power hitting, and should fit somebody’s schemes nicely. Werth has been an asset to the PHILLIES since they signed him in 2007.

[VICTOR JESUS MARTINEZ]

      and

                                                  [Joshua Patrick Beckett

have some factors working…  “reputation” and age… against them, but are also good in a lot of areas. The wild cards are [DEREK SANDERSON JETER], [Manuel Aristides (Onelcida) Ramirez ], and [Adam Troy Dunn (Big Donkey) ] are also on that list. More to follow.
